I hope you had a great hockey season! Now that the '09-'10 season is edging to closure, it is time to assess your interest in playing at the Tier 1 level for the '10-'11 season. The Connecticut Hockey Conference (CHC) hopes to achieve many objectives, and one is to offer our members a pathway for developing your playing skills at the highest available levels within USA Hockey. In an effort to focus our top talent, next season there will be two programs in the state playing at the USA Hockey Tier 1 level, beginning at the Pee Wee Minor level (1999 birthyear). Those programs will be the Mid-Fairfield Blues and the new Connecticut Junior Wolfpack. The Connecticut Junior Wolfpack program is a new joint effort which replaces the Connecticut Clippers, the Connecticut Wolves and the Connecticut Lazers. Each program will compete in the Atlantic Junior Hockey League, which is one of the premiere Tier 1 leagues in the country. In addition, these teams will be eligible to compete for the USA Hockey Tier 1 national championships. This is an exciting time for the direction of Tier 1 hockey in Connecticut and for all players within our entire state who desire a higher level of competition within USA Hockey and all that it has to offer. Information relative to tryouts for each program will be released within the next two weeks. Please check program websites for this information by clicking on the logos to the right.
If you are interested in developing your skills at this high level, we encourage you to take a look, try out and see if Tier 1 hockey is right for you. If not, I hope you stay involved at another level in Connecticut Hockey. Our other 35 member programs offer great options for players at each skill level. A link to a program in your area can be found at www.chchockey.org. I personally want to thank you for your participation in and commitment to our great sport of ice hockey. I hope to see you at a rink around the state!
